I'm hungry for more" - Rodri signs new five-year deal at Man City | Goal.com

Midfielder Rodri has extended his contract with Manchester City by three years, keeping him with the team through June 2027, according to the club's announcement.

Since joining Pep Guardiola's squad from Atletico Madrid for £62.5 million in the summer of 2019, the 26-year-old Spain international has consistently been one of the first names on the team roster.

For the Citizens, Rodri has made 151 games, starting 134 of them. He has won five trophies, including back-to-back Premier League championships.

Rodri gave the following explanations for his decision to extend his contract in an interview with the club's official website: "The finest career choice I ever made was to join City in 2019.

"I have enjoyed every minute. The love I've received from the supporters has been incredible, and the management always pushes me.

"I want to thank Pep and the entire coaching team for their assistance in helping me become a better player. I admire their effort since they are totally dedicated to making me the greatest player they can make me.

"Since I've been here, we've had great success, and that makes me extremely happy. To be honest though, that achievement has just increased my desire for me. You don't want to stop winning major championships once you get going.

I feel that the city gives me the best opportunity to win trophies, therefore I'm thrilled to be remaining here for longer.

The sale of Gabriel Jesus and the anticipated departure of Raheem Sterling, who were making a combined salary of almost £400,000 per week, are reportedly going to assist push for Rodri's new contract and reportedly give money to offer Phil Foden a lucrative new deal.
