Juventus' Adrien Rabiot is being pursued by Manchester United.
According to The Athletic, Manchester United is negotiating a contract to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
The 27-year-old France international is entering the final year of his Juventus contract and has established himself as a top option for the Premier League club as they want to strengthen manager Erik ten Hag's squad.
Regardless of their current efforts to recruit Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, United must choose whether to pursue Rabiot or wait to see how their chase of de Jong plays out.
They would also have to agree on personal terms with the former player for Paris Saint-Germain, who is regarded to be a strong possibility.
The Athletic claimed in July that United and Barcelona had struck an agreement for a transfer of De Jong for €85 million (£71.5 million, $86.6 million), while questions remained over the Dutchman's delayed wages at Camp Nou and his desire to join United.
Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, reaffirmed her intention to maintain De Jong and the Dutch international's willingness to remain on Sunday.
On Sunday, Rabiot and De Jong both participated in their teams' last preseason games, coming on as halftime substitutes. While De Jong scored as Barcelona destroyed Pumas 6-0, Rabiot was unable to stop Juventus from falling 4-0 to Atletico Madrid.
